Associate Professor Christian Poellabauer has been named a recipient of the 2017 Rev. Edmund P. Joyce, C.S.C., Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. The award honors faculty members who have had a profound influence on undergraduate students through sustained exemplary teaching and recognizes professors who create environments that stimulate significant student learning, elevate students to a new level of intellectual engagement, and foster students’ ability to express themselves effectively within their disciplines. Dr. Poellabauer exposed students to project-oriented experiences in courses focusing on topics such as wireless sensor networks, pervasive healthcare technologies, and mobile computing. He also supervised over 200 undergraduate researchers, providing them with opportunities to build technologies that tackle significant societal challenges such as assessment of emotional and behavioral disorders, detection of neurological diseases and injuries, pedestrian protection systems, and wildlife conservation.
