Riek's Research Featured in Two National News Publications

Virginia Watterson • DATE: May 12, 2015

Professor Laurel Riek’s research has recently been featured in two national news publications - National Science Foundation (NSF) News, and a health technology publication called Healthcare Dive. Riek and her students have been working on several projects in healthcare, such building novel types of high-fidelity robotic patient simulators which can facially convey realistic patient pathologies, such as pain and stroke, which will ultimately be used to train clinicians to be better diagnosticians and caregivers. They also are designing new machine perception algorithms to be used in operating rooms to detect patient safety errors before they happen, as well as creating new sensing technologies to improve safety during resuscitation.

More details are available in the two articles: NSFnews and Healthcare Dive.
