Installation Instructions for the Software

Create a folder on your desktop named, "Altera".

Using Internet Explorer, download the following files by clicking on them, whereupon you will be asked for your NetID and password, after which you should "Save As" the files to the folder you created above on your desktop:

Browse to the "Altera" folder.

Right click on "QuartusSetupWeb-13.1.0.162" and "Run as administrator". If you are prompted to allow the program to make changes, do so.

You will get the following popup. Click, "Next."

You will get the following popup. Select the button next to, "I accept the agreement," and click, "Next."

You will get the following popup. Leave, "C:\altera\13.1" as the installation directory, and click, "Next."

You will get the following popup.Verify that your components matches what's below, and click, "Next."

You will get the following popup.Click, "Next."

The installer will start. It will look like the following while running (the green bar keeps growing).

Towards the very end, the ModelSim installer will launch, as follows:

Once the installer finishes, you will get the following popup. Leave, "Create shortcuts on Desktop," but unselect, "Launch Quartus II (64-bit)," then click, "Finish."

You will get the following popup. Unselect, "Enable sending TalkBack data to Altera," and click, "OK."

First Time Running the Software

The first time you run the software, you will get the following popup. Select, "Run the Quartus II software" and click, "OK."

Installing the DE2-115 Driver

Please Note: You must have the FPGA lab kit in order to install the driver.

Connect the DE2-115 FPGA to power and an available USB on your computer.

Press the red power button down so the FPGA powers on. Your computer will attempt to install the drivers automatically, and fail.

Browse and click to open the Start menu, and click on the "Devices and Printers" option on the right hand side.

You will get the following popup. Double-click on the "USB Blaster" at the bottom.

You will get the following popup. Select the "Hardware" tab.

On the "Hardware" tab, click on, "Properties."

You will get the following popup. Click on "Change settings." If prompted, please provide your administrator username and password so changes can be made to the system.

You will get the following popup. Click on, "Update Driver..."

You will get the following popup. Click on, "Browse my computer for driver software."

You will get the following. Click on, "Browse..."

You will get the following popup. Click on "altera". The "Folder" field should fill with, "altera." Click on, "OK."

You will return the the "Update Driver Software" window. The location should have, "C:\altera". Click, "Next."

While searching, the window will look like this:

Once the driver is found, you will get the following popup. Click, "Install."

Once the software completes installing, you will get the following popup. Click, "Close."

Lastly, on the Altera USB-Blaster Properties popup, click, "Close."
