CV

I am a 3rd year graduate student, working with Dr. Emrich and Dr. Bowyer, as well as several professors and students in the biology department.  I defended my Master’s thesis, “Challenges in working with draft genomes,” in September 2008.

I currently serve on the University Committee on Women Faculty and Students which acts in an advisory capacity on a range of issues concerning women at Notre Dame.  I am also a member of the Eck Family Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases.

I did my undergraduate degree at Bethel College in North Newton, KS.  Go Threshers!  My senior seminar topic was in the field of computational linguistics, “Machine learning approaches to named entity recognition”.  I still find linguistics is incredibly fascinating and keep my eye out for interesting results.  It turns out that computational linguistics and bioinformatics have a lot in common.
