Integrating Change Impact Analysis Techniques to a Debugging Tool-set

"Change Impact Analysis" is a task of finding the effects of changes made in software. There have been many techniques proposed, but programmers rarely use any change impact analysis tools. One of the reasons is that there is a gap between theory and practice. In this proposal, we propose to study 1) the accuracy of the existing change impact analysis techniques, 2) whether and how programmers do change impact analysis in debugging, and 3) whether the change impact analysis techniques can be adapted into a debugging tool-set.
