The National Science Foundation has awarded a grant of $577,474 to the University of Notre Dame (Greg Madey and Timothy Wright) and Emory University (Michael Prietula) for a collaborative project entitled "Ensayo II: An Enhanced Virtual Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for Research and Training in Disaster Management.”  Ensayo (Spanish for rehearsal or test) is a Web-based system for training those who work in EOCs—organizations that activate during a disaster—and for modeling activities that take place there.  The development of Ensayo also includes a partnership with one of the nation’s leading EOCs, the Miami-Dade Office of Emergency Management. This is a joint project by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering and the Center for Research Computing at Notre Dame.
