Milenkovic and Emrich Receive NIH Award

Virginia Watterson • DATE: July 25, 2016

Drs. Scott Emrich and Tijana Milenkovic have received a $1.1M four-year NIH R01 award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences. They are principal investigators (PIs) on this award titled "Integrative Computational Framework for Pattern Mining in Big -omics Data: Linking Synonymous Codon Usage to Protein Biogenesis". Together with two additional PIs from Notre Dame, Dr. Patricia Clark from the Departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry and Dr. Jun Li from the Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics, Dr. Milenkovic and Dr. Emrich will develop a novel integrative computational, statistical, and experimental framework for efficient mining of interesting patterns in large-scale genomic/proteomic sequence and structural network data. Then, they will link such patterns to arguably the most important process in a cell, producing functional proteins.
