Weninger Receives Metaknowledge Grant from Templeton Foundation

Tim Weninger, assistant professor of computer science and engineering, has received a $50,000 renewable grant, one of 15 grants presented by Knowledge Lab as part of the Metaknowledge Project. Supported by the Templeton Foundation, all of the grants focus on data-driven projects about how ideas are formed and circulated. They encompass 11 different institutions, eight existing Metaknowledge Network research associates, and the addition of eight new researchers, of which Weninger is one.

Chen Named ACM Distinguished Scientist

Danny Z. Chen, professor of computer science and engineering and concurrent professor of applied and computational mathematics and statistics, has been named a Distinguished Scientist by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). The Distinguished Member grade of the ACM recognize members with at least 15 years of professional experience and five years of membership who have achieved significant accomplishments, making a substantial impact on the computing field. According to Vinton G. Cerf, ACM president, recipients are “the problem solvers, prophets, and producers who are powering the future of the digital age.”
